類似の言い回しに「神を試してはいけない」というのがある。

これは神が本当にいるならばXXXするはずだ、という前提で行動することだ。神が本当にいるかどうかを試すわけだ。

では、この場合、「神を試してはいけない」というのはなぜだろう。

宗教側の立場からいうと、神を試されて困る理由は明白だ。神が本当はいないことがばれてしまうからだ。無神論をふりかざしたいわけじゃないので、もうちょい表現を変えると、”みんなが想像し期待するような”神はいない、ということが分かってしまう。

「人の心を試してはいけない」理由も同じだろう。みんなが想像し期待するような人の心なんて存在しないことがばれてしまうからだ。あなたが期待する愛情や信頼なんて、相手は本当は持っていない、ということが分かってしまうからに違いない。
